Welcome to the "Minus Connections" podcast. At the end of each month, you will find here a new episode by one of our artists, staff, friends...

This podcast is not just a one hour mix of plain electronic music, it's supposed to be different! Each artist and his choice of songs tells a story - his own way to MINUS! The early influences, special songs for special moments etc... Whatever that might be, you will find the reason in the artwork window of your iTunes!

Furthermore, the Connections podcast now includes selected projects from the MINUS EMBED initiative, which incorporates the work of creatives who've been invited to work with Richie Hawtin. Chosen individuals take part in a weekend excursion to catalog, document and respond to the experience using their own specific talents. The Embed concept provokes new ways of communication, connecting people closer to the world of Richie Hawtin.

Minus Embed04 - Christian Carlsson

 <itunes:author>MINUS</itunes:author>

MINUS-EMBED will invite creative individuals to become an embedded participant on a weekend trip with Richie Hawtin to catalog, document and then respond to the event in an artistic format. This creative response will then be exhibited on the Minus website and possible other platforms. MINUS-EMBED is open to all creative disciplines; video, sound, web design, photographers, fine artists, fashion designers, etc.

For EMBED04 Christian Carlsson was invited and here is what he had to say about the experience: "I flew to Turin and back in less than 24h, so it was an intense gig! I was greeted by Ali Demirel and met the rest of the friendly minus crew for dinner before the real party began. I ran around like mad during Richie Hawtins 3hr gig to get the shots I wanted. People often act differently while being filmed but in this scenario nobody suspected being on film as I shot on a Canon 7D which looks like a stills camera. This tied well into my concept of re-creating a subjective and authentic experience of a m-nus night into a short film. Thanks, it was wicked."

<itunes:subtitle>The fourth Minus Embed artist submission comes from Christian Carlsson and was filmed during a Richie Hawtin DJ gig in Turin / Italy. The video submission may be viewed also by clicking Embed under the artist tab at m-nus.com.</itunes:subtitle>

For EMBED03 David was asked to follow Richie Hawtin on his small tour over New Year's Eve, spending 3 days together traveling with the Minus crew from Italy to Madrid and back to Berlin:

"Following a few mishaps along the way (such as crucial filming equipment gone missing), the trip became a new experience for me, taking things to a whole new emotional level as I had to face the consequences of working with secondary equipment (running around Madrid on the 1st of January looking for a camera). Yet, this has become an unforgettable experience and I feel privileged to have spent this time working surrounded by such enormous talent."

EMBED02 was created by Emre Guven during the Richie Hawtin DJ performance at Monegros 2009.

"This was a unique experience for me since its different from what I generally do. Trying to capture gig from the back of the stage as Richie actually did his regular thing was amazingly weird! I had never seen 40.000 people looking my way and cheering frantically… I had the best time with the crew too. We ate we drank we really had a good time together. Cheers!"
